Autoflame Commissioning and Retrofits
Commissioning is where an Autoflame system earns or loses its value. Our Autoflame certified engineers commission new systems, convert existing burners to Autoflame control, and upgrade older Mk6 and Mk7 installations to Mk8.
When You Need Us
- New installations: a new burner and boiler package with Autoflame controls.
- Retrofits: converting a mechanical cam burner to linkageless Autoflame control.
- Upgrades: moving from Mk6 or Mk7 to the Mk8 MM.
- Adding an EGA: fitting a Mk8 EGA EVO to add emissions monitoring and trim to an existing MM.
- Recommissioning: after burner overhauls, combustion head changes, fuel changes or boiler replacement.
What Our Commissioning Covers
- Survey of the burner, boiler, fuel supply and existing controls
- Servomotor installation and set-up on the fuel valves and air damper
- Entering commissioning points and setting the fuel/air ratio at each point across the full firing range, using a calibrated combustion analyser
- Setting up multiple fuel programmes on dual fuel burners
- Flame safeguard, valve proving and air proving set-up and testing
- EGA set-up and trim configuration where fitted
- Variable speed drive set-up where fitted
- Water level control and blowdown set-up on steam boilers
- Boiler sequencing and BMS or Modbus configuration
- Backup of commissioning data, plus full documentation for handover, warranty and insurance
Is a Retrofit Worth It?
A mechanical cam burner can only hold its fuel/air ratio as well as its linkages allow, and linkages wear. Linkageless control holds the ratio precisely at every firing point. The Mk8 MM is listed on the government’s Energy Technology List as a retrofit burner control system. We survey the plant first and give you an honest view of whether a retrofit will pay back on your site.
