Nu-Way Boiler Commissioning — Gas Safe Accredited Engineers, South East England

Commissioning a Nu-Way forced draught burner correctly isn’t just good practice — it’s a legal requirement. Under Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, all commercial gas burner commissioning must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer competent for the work. Get it wrong and you risk an unsafe installation, a voided manufacturer’s warranty, and potential regulatory liability.

Boiler Burner Services provide specialist Nu-Way commissioning services across London, Surrey, Hampshire and the South East. Our engineers are Gas Safe accredited and experienced across the full Nu-Way range — from MGN modulating gas burners to MDFL dual fuel systems.

What Nu-Way Boiler Commissioning Involves

Commissioning a Nu-Way burner-boiler system is a detailed technical process. It isn’t just ‘switching it on and checking it lights’. A proper commissioning involves:

  • Pre-commissioning checks— Verification of installation against Nu-Way technical drawings, gas supply pressure and flow checks, electrical supply and control wiring verification
  • Gas train inspection— Checking valve train assembly, valve proving operation, gas pressure switch settings and regulator adjustment
  • Combustion head setup— Electrode gap setting, oil nozzle installation (dual fuel), flame tube positioning and combustion head alignment to manufacturer specification
  • Burner start-up and sequencing— Verifying correct purge timing, ignition sequence, pilot and main flame establishment, and lockout function
  • Combustion analysis— Flue gas analysis using calibrated equipment to establish correct CO2, O2, CO and flue gas temperature. Adjustment of air/fuel ratio to achieve optimal combustion efficiency
  • High/low and modulation commissioning— For two-stage and modulating burners, setting high and low flame rates and verifying modulating control response
  • Safety device testing— Testing all interlocks, pressure switches, limit thermostats and flame safeguard responses
  • Documentation— Completion of commissioning records including combustion data, settings and Gas Safe documentation

Gas Safe Requirements for Commissioning

The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 require that all gas work, including commissioning of commercial and industrial gas burners, is carried out by a Gas Safe registered business. The engineer must also be assessed as competent for the specific type of work — general Gas Safe registration for domestic boilers does not automatically cover industrial forced draught burners.

Our engineers hold Gas Safe registration with the correct competency categories for commercial and industrial gas burner work. We provide Gas Safety documentation and commissioning certificates for all work carried out, which you’ll need for:

  • Site compliance files
  • Insurance records
  • Manufacturer warranty registration
  • Local authority or planning condition sign-off (where applicable)
  • CQC, food standards or other regulatory inspections requiring utilities compliance records

Recommissioning After Repair or Major Works

Nu-Way burners require recommissioning after certain repair or maintenance activities — not just on new installations. You should arrange recommissioning after:

  • Replacement of gas valve train components
  • Combustion head replacement or major overhaul
  • Fan motor or blower replacement
  • Control box or burner sequence controller replacement
  • Any work affecting the gas train or safety interlock system
  • Boiler move or significant plant room alteration
If an engineer carries out a repair and leaves without recommissioning, the installation may not be in a safe or legally compliant state. Always insist on post-repair combustion analysis and documentation.

Coverage for Nu-Way Commissioning

We commission Nu-Way equipment across the South East including London, Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex, Berkshire and Kent. We work directly with:

  • Main contractors and M&E subcontractors on new-build projects
  • Facilities management teams arranging commissioning of replacement equipment
  • Plant and equipment hirers and vendors requiring commissioning prior to site delivery
  • Industrial operators recommissioning after major planned maintenance shutdowns

Commissioning Documentation We Provide

Every Nu-Way commissioning we carry out includes a full documentation package:

  • Commissioning record with combustion analysis data (CO2, O2, CO, flue gas temp, efficiency)
  • Gas Safe documentation
  • Control and safety device settings record
  • Burner identification and model data
  • Any recommendations for follow-up maintenance or parts attention identified during commissioning
